If you’ve been following us over the past few months, you know our program had to suspend operations on February 7th due to funding shortfalls from the Department of Defense (DoD). The STARBASE program did not receive full funding for this fiscal year because it was not included in the DoD budget. Funding for STARBASE typically comes through annual appropriations. This year, the program was not allocated within the department’s budget, meaning it did not receive the financial resources it had in previous years. However, with the recently passed budget, STARBASE has received additional funding, allowing us to reopen! The funds are not sufficient to last through the end of the fiscal year, but we will be able to host classrooms again to finish the school year.

While we also plan to offer summer academies, please understand that this depends entirely on receiving additional funding from DoD, which is currently undergoing cuts and reviewing budgets for many programs. Please keep an eye on our website, where we will post and process summer academy applications with the anticipation of receiving more funding. We realize many families are already planning their summer calendars. We hope STARBASE One can be a part of many of those calendars.
